History of Cabriola Horse Theatre
Our Story
Cabriola Horse Theatre was founded in 1997 as the first and only artistic project in Poland combining theatrical art with equestrian performance. Initially, it operated under the name Cabriola Team and was based mainly on a duo: Katarzyna Cygler and the bay Anglo-Arabian horse Libero. Soon after, many other talented actors, dancers, acrobats, and remarkable horses joined the project.
Katarzyna Cygler and Libero also made their debut on the film set of With Fire and Sword, performing most of the stunt scenes.
Cabriola Horse Theatre has been recognized multiple times for its artistic achievements. In 2000, it won three awards at the International Art Festival in Warsaw. A few years later, it took first place in the Stunt and Equestrian Artists Competition. In 2014, it received the Grand Prix at the International Talent Festival.
The theatre’s name comes from the French word cabriole, which refers to a Haute École dressage movement where the horse leaps into the air and kicks out its hind legs. Katarzyna Cygler, the founder of Cabriola Horse Theatre, was the first in Poland to train a horse to perform this extremely difficult element.
